Gender Equality Attitudes-Values Clarification

Gauges men’s (or women’s) attitudes about gender equality (agency). It can also then be used to understand the broader values and norms that drive attitudes (structures), as well as give a sense of the dynamics surrounding gender relations.

Income and Expenditures

Asks about sources of incomes and expenditures within a household, between women and men, and how households manage resources (agency, relations).

Intra-Household Decision-Making

Engages men and women in interviews to explore the values/norms, relationships, and issues of voice/confidence/skills that come into play in households decision-making.

Dependency Mapping

Charts how different groups within a society depend on and influence one another (relations) based on diverse activities/skills (agency).

Conflict Role-Playing

Looks into the relational dynamics surrounding a conflict, and the strategies women or men engage (agency) to work through conflict.

Body Mapping

Discusses what areas are associated with pleasure, pain, power and shame (agency). Probes into the relationships and structures that reinforce men's and women’s associations around pleasure or power related to their bodies.

Network Analysis

Explores the structures that define and guide kinship or livelihood networks in specific contexts. Further, it seeks to understand the key relational dynamics of support, constraint and obligation associated within networks.
